I don’t know about you but one thing I struggle with on a daily basis, besides remembering to turn off the lights in my house, is keeping my Mac’s desktop clean and organized.
Most of the stuff I download from the web I plan to use right away so for convenience I save it to my desktop, or if I’m grabbing and image from a website I simply drag it on the desktop for later use. The problem with this is I never have the time to clean up the desktop and within a few days it can be hard to tell what my desktop wallpaper even was. If it’s images of family members or images for an article I’m writing, most of the time I would like to archive them.
Clean by Vojto Rinik, is a wonderful app that rectifies my desktop clutter predicament. It is an app that runs in the background as a service and cleans up your desktop every day (or every month, whichever option you select). When I say ‘clean’ I mean it moves the files from your desktop into another folder of your choosing. In my setup, I have it send the files to a designated folder within my Documents directory.
Of course at any time you can launch the app and manually activate the clean up process if you can’t wait until the end of the day.
You can find Clean within the Mac App Store for Free. I wasn’t able to find it anywhere besides the Mac App Store, which means if you don’t have at least Mac OS X 10.6.8 on your Mac you won’t be able to install the App Store to get this little gem.
This article is very useful. I have used my Mac for years and did not notice my hard disk is comsuming by the useless files. This article helped me much. I also found another free clean software MacCleaning. http://www.easemac.com It is free and effective.
